It seems that we’ve been waiting for this week for a long time. We’ve counted the months and the weeks. Our advent calendar says we are days away from THE day.
The gingerbread was baked and decorated and consumed. The cards were signed and sent. The Santa picture was taken (with only one visit) and the shopping is done, wrapped and under the tree.
Could I be ready already?
I feel like I’m missing something. It’s usually harder than this, isn’t it?
Maybe it’s because most of the shopping was done on-line. Maybe it’s because we stuck to a budget more this year than others?
Maybe it’s because he’s older now and we have a better idea of what will work and what’s a “thanks but not this year” thing.
He was able to pull himself together and go look at Christmas lights even after burning his mouth on hot chocolate.
He signed cards and tags without eye rolls and he’s tolerated my favorite Christmas shows despite the “ancient animation.”
Yes…he said “ancient” when he watched The Grinch.
Maybe we finally have figured out the balance and maybe, maturity is kicking in and helping us.
Whatever it is, I’ll take it.
Merry Christmas!
