Bright Not Broken: Twice Exceptional Kids – Who They Are, Why They Are Stuck, How To Help Them
About the book: Bright Not Broken sheds new light on this vibrant population by identifying who twice exceptional children are and taking an unflinching look at why they’re stuck. The first work to boldly examine the widespread misdiagnosis and controversies that arise from our current diagnostic system, it serves as a call to action call for parents and professionals to question whyour mental health and education systems continue to fail some of our brightest children. Too often, these kids are caught in an endless cycle of chasing diagnostic labels, being prescribed dangerous medications, and are never given the tools to fully develop their gifts and talents.

Huh. Thank you. I am familiar with “spirited child” – I have two. I knew that one was more “extreme” than the other, and…I think this may be the extra bit I’ve been looking for. Heavens, parenting is exhausting.
Mara, it certainly is 🙂
If you read my post today, you would see that the exhaustion and frustration catches up with the best of us 🙂
Umm, yeah…on more of a regular basis than I’d like to admit!
LOVE Raising Your Spirited Child. As a former (that doesn’t sound quite right…I suspect I would still drive a parent crazy) spirited child myself and the parent of two spirited children, I found so much truth and reassurance in it. Not to mention some good coping strategies. 🙂
Thank you 🙂
